Hachikenyahama is a new tourist attraction developed on the left bank of the Okawa River (formerly the Yodo River) between Temmabashi and Tenjinbashi as a base for the revitalization of Osaka as a water city. During the Edo period, it flourished as a key point for shipping on the Yodo River connecting Kyoto and Osaka. The Hachikenyahama Improvement Project was implemented in conjunction with the restoration work for the construction of the Keihan Nakanoshima Line, reviving Hachikenyahama, which has a long history as a hub between the river and land. With the development of aquatic revetments, promenades, gangways, wharves, and entertainment facilities, the area is bustling with people who use the departure and arrival points for regular sightseeing boats and people who stroll while watching the flow of the Okawa River and the Nakanoshima Kensaki Fountain. Hachikenya Co., Ltd. and the NPO Osaka Water Safety Association are the occupants of the entertainment facility "Kawa no Eki Hachikenya" in the river area, managing the facility and operating restaurants, event spaces, etc.
