Project Example 11 Kizugawa Promenade
Before maintenance
After maintenance
As part of the Water City Regeneration Project based on the Water City Osaka Regeneration Initiative, Osaka Prefecture has been gradually developing a boat dock (Chiyozaki Port in front of Osaka Dome) and a promenade in the Chiyozaki area on the right bank of the Kizu River since 2004.
Through workshops with the local community, the Adopt River Program was incorporated into the development plan in advance, and the beautification and greening activity "Adopt River Chiyozaki," with the participation of the Chiyozaki Rengo Shinko Chokai, was launched in 2005. The various flowers and fruits that are grown can be enjoyed throughout the year, and the area has become a place of relaxation for local people.
A project to develop a walking space along the Kizugawa River is currently underway. This is a collaboration between the "Osaka Canvas Promotion Project," which communicates the appeal of public spaces through art, and the development of a promenade along the Kizugawa River with appealing urban design. The project is the culmination of high-quality design and ideas, and aims to create a waterfront space that is loved and a source of pride for the local community.
