Aqua Metropolis Osaka Consortium

Purpose of establishment

In Osaka, since the "Regeneration of the Water City, Osaka" was adopted as the third urban renewal project in 2001, the government, businesses, and citizens have worked together to regenerate Osaka as an aquatic city. As a result, the scenery of Osaka's waterfront has changed dramatically, with promenades and wharves being constructed along rivers in the city center and embankments, bridges, and highway piers being regularly lit up. In addition, the waterfront has been utilized on a daily basis, with cruises taking advantage of these changes and private waterfront businesses being created through deregulation. Osaka has become the city with the most bustling waterfronts in Japan.
We are now establishing the Aqua Metropolis Osaka Consortium to link the results of these efforts to further growth and to advance all-Osaka efforts based on the basic guidelines outlined by the Water and Light Urban Development Promotion Council, with the aim of making Osaka the "Capital of Water and Light" that attracts people from all over the world with the charms of water and light.
